A survey was conducted in March 2021 by our technology partner UiPath among 4,500 office workers in the US, UK, France, Germany, Germany, India, and Singapore. It aimed to determine how vocational training opportunities affect the attitude of employees and in particular what skills they are looking for to advance their careers. We learn that 67% of them currently feel overwhelmed by repetitive tasks.
Repetitive tasks: a heavy burden to bear
The UiPath survey assessed how office workers felt about how their roles have changed and how they plan to evolve in the future.
On average, respondents said they were losing four and a half hours per week to perform tasks that they think could be automated. 58% of this loss of time is perceived as a barrier to creativity. The frustration generated is then accompanied by a desire for greater accountability on a daily basis to 68% employees interviewed.
In particular, this burden results in degradation of customer service. 59% of office workers worldwide and 70% in the United States currently feel that they cannot help them effectively.
Automation loved by employees
Tom Clancy, senior vice president of training at UiPath, looks back at the causes of this desire for increased employee engagement.
“Automation boosts worker productivity and, above all, frees them up to focus on useful, creative, collaborative, and strategic work.
This call seems to have been heard. Indeed, the survey highlights the acceleration of dissemination of automation technologies within businesses. Out of all respondents, one in four said that their boss was investing in automation software for the first time. The statistic even rises to 36% in the United States, while India and Singapore are home to leading organizations.
Respondents who were trained in automation during the year even said to 91% that she had allowed them tosignificantly increase their performance.
Develop skills to advance your career
When considering their future career, two-thirds of office workers around the world consider that automation skills are essential. This point of view is also shared across all age groups and all phases of the career path. 76% think that they ultimately offer a job security.
Thus, most workers took advantage of teleworking last year to put training at the heart of their schedule. For 63% of them, the new skills acquired allowed them to gain confidence in the quality of their work.
Les training efforts granted by employers could therefore play a major role in the attractiveness of companies. 73% of employees answered that they would be more willing to continue working in an organization that offers them the opportunity to acquire new skills or to deepen their current skills.
